Mojacar’s Guide to WaterSports

In a previous post I describe the variety that can be found within the beaches of Mojácar. This post explores some watery based activities in and around Mojácar. Whether you’re a confirmed adrenaline junkie or keen to try something new, there are plenty of water-based activities to try.

Boating in Mojácar

With such a long coastline there are options for boating and sea fishing.

Note: We haven’t tried either of these personally. However they both come highly recommended by locals and visitors alike.

Wakeboarding & Inflatables:

Lunar Cable Park

Lunar Cable Park — one of our favourite spots. (Although it’s 30 minutes away, there’s a chiringuito on site with good, reasonably priced food.)  The link above will take you directly to the Lunar website, and we wrote a blog here about a day trip to Lunar. It’s a cable wakeboard park. Think waterskiing (being pulled along – but not by a boat – and on a wakeboard which is more like a snowboard).

Inflatables at Lunar

Also there is an area of inflatables which is usually open between about May – October. They have wetsuits available.

You can also hire also canoes and stand up paddleboards (SUPs) at Lunar Park.

Water Park

AquaVera Is a waterpark with slides, swimming pools a wave machine. It’s great fun, although only open peak season (May–Sept). Some of the rides you will need an inflatable. There are some there, or you can hire. They come in single, doubles and tripples.

Tips for AquaVera

Tip 1. You can often skip the queues by purchasing tickets on-line.

Tip 2: If you’re with younger children or you prefer not to spin – note that the single inflatables have a tendency to spin around, whereas the doubles & triples stay aligned on the slide.

Tip 3: You can hire the “inflatable rings” at the kiosk as you go in, to skip waiting for the rings on the bottom of the slides. Of course it depends on how busy the park is.

Tip 4. After 4pm it’s half price. One of our friends goes after 4pm on 2 separate days … one day do the rides not needing a ring, and the 2nd time to hire the ring.
