Beaches of Mojácar. Explore the sun-soaked coast of Mojácar. There are golden beaches, thrilling watersports, aa well as scenic boat trips. Whether you’re here for a holiday or working remotely with DeskSpace, there’s no shortage of outdoor adventure and relaxation. This is a stunning stretch of Andalusian coastline. Many people understandably stick to the bit of beach “right outside” their hotel. But the beaches of Mojácar have “different personalities“. This range of types of beach is without taking a drive to some of the delightful coves and bays outside of Mojácar. With a warm climate year-round, Mojácar’s beaches offer something for everyone — from early morning swims to evening walks along the shore.
The Coastline of Mojácar
Mojácar boasts over 17 km of diverse beaches, each with its own character:
Mojácar’s Paseo
Mojácar Playa’s paseo — a flat, paved beachside promenade — runs along much of the coast. The paseo is ideal for walking, or strolling with a pushchair or wheelchair. No sand in your shoes required, but good “to take in” the sea air, with refreshments along the way.
Along side the walkway is a cycle path (but more about cycling in a separate post).
Mojácar’s Accessible Beaches
From the wheelchair accessible paseo in Mojácar, there are a couple of areas of shoreline that are designated “accessible” (to wheelchairs). It’s a little hard to see from the picture – but the paseo on the left, has a concrete slope towards the sea that turns into a wooden “boardwalk” across the sand to the shoreline. On the sand is a fixed shelter providing shade from the sun.
To be honest, I get a bit confused by the separate beach names within Mojácar. If you’re looking for something specific in a beach, ask at the tourist office. Or ping us a message and we’ll do our best to answer.
Family Friendly Beaches in Mojácar
Kid Friendly Beaches in Mojácar, most of the main stretch of Playa Mojácar offers a mix of lively beach bars (chiringuitos) and quieter sections. The beach shelves gently, making it suitable for families with young children. In my opinion, Playa del Lance Nuevo and the Bay opposite Hotel Best Indalo at the southern end of Mojácar are probably the calmest for younger children.
Dog friendly beach in Mojácar
Most beaches in the area don’t allow dogs between 31s March to 31 October. However there is a dog friendly beach at the southern end of the Playa at Perulejo, Macenas, located near Torre de Macenas. The 118-meter-long and 12-meter-wide beach is a designated pet-friendly area, making the town more appealing to visitors traveling with dogs, as well as with local dog owners.
This area also has nice walks (with or without a dog) with views back towards Mojácar playa.
Kite Surfing beaches in Mojácar
We found Playa de la Rumina attract kite surfers and windsurfers who come to ride the consistent coastal breezes. It can be fun to watch with a warm drink in hand! For a bit more information look at the watersports page.
